I won’t lie. I adore Ann Shenton. Formerly of Add (n) to X, she is hands down my number one massive girl crush. I saw the very last tour of Add (n) to X, when she left the group before they arrived in Minneapolis. Bummer.
Shortly after that, I discovered that Ann had started a music label called White Label in the U.K. She released one album in 2003 under the name Large Number. Large Number’s album Spray on Sound has all the electronic weirdness of Ann (n) to X, with definite experimental Jazz influences, samples and odd instrumentation. It’s like George Clinton, Throbbing Gristle, Add (n) to X and Marchel Duchamp all decided to jam. It’s a quirky, spacey a blend of electronica and post-rock and truly (still) unlike anything out there. She released a single in 2007 for an album to be named, Modern Horror, which remains unreleased.
