Friday Night Faves – July 7, 2017

Tonight’s Friday Night Faves playlist is short and sweet. Coming in a little over an hour long, it features a handful of dreampop artists, indie pop and as always, a number of postpunk and gothic artists. This show will premiere Friday at 7:00 pm  EDT and and  randomly re-generates at 7am & 7pm EDT/EST on Saturday and Sunday following. After that, you will hear these artists as part of our regular rotation on Strawberry Tongue Radio. Find links below to connect to the artists and ways to stream the show.

Scottish singer/songwriter Erin at Eleven  has two new singles in our lineup tonight.

Described as agit-prop collective of post-punk rockers The Armoury Show has a track featured  from their 1985 release, “Waiting for the Floods.”

A track from UK post-punks The Chameleons.

We have a track from early 80’s goth rock group Siiiii.

A new single from infectious Louisiana indie rockers MRYGOLD.

Climbing Trees is a Welsh Cymrucana band that plays a blend of indie, folk and Americana. We are featuring a single from their 2017 release Borders.

On the Water plays a quirky blend of folk and Americana. Based out of  West Philadelphia, this collection of strange folk uses  a variety of instrumentation including guitars, mandolin, drums, toy piano, glockenspiel, cello and harp.

Eighties Scottish slowcore band Lowlife. Formed from members of Cocteau Twins and Dead Neighbors, their sound likes somewhere between post-punk, new wave and ethereal.

The Rose of Avalanche is a psychedelic goth group that recorded from around 85 – 92. We are featuring one of their early tracks this evening.

Not well-known, but, with a devoted following, we are featuring a  rare track from the little known post-punk/new wave group Modern Eon.

No show would be complete without at least one track from the English musician and producer Danielle Dax.

Showcasing a new artist, we are featuring a couple of tracks from Verdant, a project of Melbourne based Gvido Zundurs.

A track from the new project of Dennis Kane called The Hunted Hare, a post-rock, instrumental segue that will delight fans of Durutti Column. Just released on Verses Records.

And finally a sneak peek at a couple of tracks from Georgia-based Parsons Rocket Project, a psychedelic space rock project  featuring STR alumnists Map of the Moon.  Their new album releases in August.
