Can (Documentary)

With the recent passing of Jaki Liebezeit, drummer from legendary Krautrock band Can, we present you with a documentary that was released by Can and Spoon Records in 1999. Looking back to their early work in the late 1960’s and 1970’s Can is one of those bands you hear listed as influential for many artists and yet they never achieved massive commercial success. Experimental and avant-garde, they would inspire dozens of electronic, new wave, and post-punk bands including Kraftwerk, Public Image Limited, Joy Division, Suicide, Brian Eno, Talk Talk, Spoon, The Stone Roses and many, many more. Combining elements of avant-garde, jazz, rock, minimalist, electronic, psychedelia, funk and world music, their sound was sprawling, and yet connected through Liebezeit’s progressive drumming style. Active throughout the seventies, the group split at the dawning of the eighties leaving a legacy of work both breathtaking and influential. Various incarnations of the band would reform in the 80’s and 90’s along with various live performances.
