Glen Hansard

Glen HansardI am hot off the heels of seeing, “Once,” a Broadway musical based on the movie of the same name. The film starred Glen Hansard who wrote the majority of the music for the film.

Glen Hansard is an Irish musician who has been creating a blend of low-key, folk infused rock since he was 13 years old. Forming the quintet The Frames in 1990 he has recorded under The Frames, The Swell Season with Marketa Irglova and solo efforts.

A guitarist, he often uses other strings such as cello and violin along with piano and drums to round out his mellow, mutli-layered sound. His lyrics are frequently heart-wrenching and focus around, love, loneliness and heartbreak.

Glen Hansard‘s is touring select cities in North America in 2014.

Strawberry Tongue Radio is delighted to be featuring the tracks, The Storm it’s Coming from his solo album Rhythm and Repose and True from The Frames album The Cost.
