Anoraque | Lila

Anoraque is a band from Switzerland that I discovered last summer while traveling. They are an irreverent, balls to the wall alternative rock band that derives inspiration from post-punk, math rock, shoegaze and experimental music. With intricate  rhythms, driven by bombastic guitars and complex drumming, it could almost be too much sensory overload. But, the delicate vocals of their singer Lorraine balance this intense, noisy, evocative and powerfully irresistible blend of styles.

Anoraque recently released a video for their latest single Lila. Created by conceptual artist Evelinn Trouble, this NSFW narrative contrasts love, violence, sex, tenderness and cruelty. The sweet, circular resignation of Anoraque’s vocalist Lorraine sets a backdrop for a disturbing, thought provoking and haunting video.
